My service manual for a 1500 says clean and gap around every 3500-4000 miles. I pulled one plug on each cylinder at 20,000 miles for the first time and did not see wear of the electrode or any other reason to replace them. As long as the gap is right and there are no other problems like cracked insulators AND there is NO misfire (most likely at high engine load), then why change them? Unless you are planning a trip of several thousand miles, and even so, throw a couple in your bag and go. That's my 2 cents.
