I am looking to do a sprocket change a chain swap on my 05 zx6r. I wanted to do it myself, but had a few questions before I tear it apart. I have heard that it is easiest to just cut the stock chain with a cut off wheel to get it off. Also what size is the rear nut to loosen the axle bolt to get the rear wheel off? Is the front sprocket reverse threaded? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

yes you are going to have to cut it . I would just grind to of the pins and then you can remove the link. but if it junk I suppose you could cut right through it.
You are going to ant to make sure that your new chain has a master link if it doesn't you will need the tool to properly swage the link.
I am nut sure of the nut size or if the front is reverse thread

normal thread on front sprocket, have fun, get a good impact gun and hammer down.

Couple things... you can get a chain tool to break it off. Theyre about 70 bucks from some site I cant remember. You can get the chain off and put the new one on with it. Indispensible IMO. Second, make sure you break the front sprocket nut while the rear tire is on the bike. It can be difficult without anything to keep the sprocket still. I did it by putting a 2x3 through the spokes of the rear tire against the swingarm. Youll probly need a breaker bar too. As for the size of the nut I cant help you I havent done my Kawasaki yet. I think my Yamaha is 1 1/4" to put you in the ball park. Hope that helps!

+1 on the front sprocket removal. Those little old Japanese ladies on the Kawi assembly line really like to tighten those nuts!
