looking to get a steering damper. Has anyone installed one on a 03 zx-6 636
and what kind?

Scotts is the one I like the best. You can get mounting brakets for all your bikes and it takes like 2 seconds to transfer it to each one. You can also adjust it easy ont he fly. I'll include a link to a discription of it on kneedraggers.com. This one happens to be the one for the ZX-9R but the ZX-6R doesn't give the description or it didn't load atleast. They do carry the '03 ZX-6R damper though.

I have the Scotts Steering Damper and it's awesome, very easy to adjust to your driving style, road conditions and outside temperatures. Very cool and very easy to install!

Hey Stathe 6R in addition the Scotts damper has a bunch of adjustments that are not possible with other dampers, for example the damping angle, the actual damping that can be changed on the fly with a knob and the high speed damping.

now just have to save the cash. so how do you like your zx-6rr?

I like it a lot, it's not intrusive and the adjustability is great. Specially in hot or cold weather. I haven't felt any head shake or threat there of, since I installed the damper. Before I installed it, I did feel some hesitation on the front wheel when coming out of a corner and hard on the throttle. Not anymore! Which gives me peace of mind.

here in MI roads are bad and i get alot of head shake in the front wheel
