I just bought a 1995 Kawasaki EN500. The guy I bought it from had broken the key off in the steering lock. I have a new lock - but here's my question. There is a rivet that holds it in. How do I remove the rivet & is this something I can replace (the rivet)? Has anybody done this before? I would appreciate any input.
Thanks

A pic would help...
You can probably drill the rivet out and replace it with another rivet. I may be simplifying it some that's why a pic is worthwhile.

I dont know where the ignition was on the 1st gen EN500s but on the LTDs the actual key switch was attached to a metal plate that was welded onto the frame.

You might take the plate off (I think it was two welds) and see if there's anything on the back holding on the switch.

Haha, I try. I miss mine, it was a very comfy bike.
