I just purchased a 1999 ZX6r with 11500 miles. The bike seams to make a bad rattle coming from the right side. It starts at 3500 rpms and quits when I get above 6000 rpms. I does not seem to hurt the performance but it ias very annoying. The guy I bought it from told me it needed a cam chain tensioner replaced. I carried it to the local shop and the guy behind the desk said it sounded like the guides need replacing. I have never heard of the guides. Could someone please help? Thanks

GUIDES

Valve guides...if you are going to keep the bike then the very best help that I could give you would be to tell you that our FORUM sponsor is Beartooth Kawasaki, and that you should order the Service Manual for your bike. have the year and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) ready when you call them at 1-800-556-3098. YOu will get a 10% discount (no kidding, no strings). The manual is impressive in that it explaines many things about your bike has all the torque specs and how to do most everything...even a wiring chart, and step by step instructions...definately worth every penny that you will pay for it.
