I have a 74 Kawasaki F9. Trying to find a tachometer cable. Will a cable from,say, an H2 or other models fit? The engine end of the cable is threaded male; screws into the port. I need the entire cable as mine is not repairable.

I would take your old cable to a Kawi dealer or a salvage yard and see what they can match up.

A well established Kawasaki dealership will have old cables in stock they would love to match up and sell you.

I took a gamble and bought a NOS tach cable on ebay. It's for a H2, but the fittings looked right and the measurements provided checked out except the length is a couple inches longer. It does fit but I had to run it under the tank. And it was $14 with free shipping. All the ones listed for F9 were priced $60 to $85. Nope.

A little longer is O.K., careful routing can take care of the extra length.
