Yes the latest remake of the original Kawi Z1 900 is probably the best of the retro bikes in regards to paying respect to their lininage (except arguably the retro Katana)

I can't wait or at least hope that that Kawi pays homage to the 82 Gpz's in the way they did the 900 with a retro machine.

I know Kawi fans of my age and cool hipsters would love it

I would have added pictures but I have been drinking Haha.

The ZRX1100/1200 came close so I don’t think they’ll do it again. I could be wrong though, the Zephyr was the first Z900 inspired retro and they’ve now done it again with the Z900RS.

Those air cooled 750 lumps are still going strong so you could do as I did with an 83 model and put it on more modern running gear.

Saw a beautiful blue ZRX1200R And a really nice original KZ900 last weekend at the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club Fall picnic in Kansas City KS. The 900 was the original owner.

There's a near mint condition ZR1100 Zephyr listed on EB right now. kind of NOS I guess.
It's currently at $8300 (reserve not met). Apparently, it had been stored inside a Kaw dealer under a cloth cover.

From the description:
Up for auction today is this (basically) brand NEW 1993 Kawasaki ZR1100 Zephyr. It has fifty two miles on it. 52 MILES! The Zephyr has spent most of its life under a cloth cover in the back of a Kawasaki dealership. Recently, it was correctly brought back to life. Now it runs, drives, and stops like new. Some rubber bits have been replaced, but otherwise the bike is 100% original. Because the bike wasn't stored in a bubble, there are 3 VERY minor blemishes.

That would be a great catch.
