I replaced 1 exhaust valve and installed new rings.when I started it up there is a ticking sound ,louder at idle speed. removed the plug wire from the #1 cylinder while running and the ticking seems to stop stops. Checked the valve clearance, replaced the plug wire cap but the ticking noise is still there.help please.

Yes...but it's usually an exhaust seal at the head once they've been taken apart.....assuming head reassembly and flatness were up to spec.

If you are sure the valves are set correctly then check the cam chain tensioner spring behind the wedge. If it is the least bit distorted replace it.
