Rich and I had our club ride to indio today for the tamale festival. Riding towards the desert, yuo would think it would be warm................not.

we had I beleive about 15 bikes. The scenery was amazing, even at 70mph, and since I wasnt tailgunning or leadiing, I got to really look.

Rhe food was good, but none of it good for you, which is why it tasted so right.

Coming back the winds picked up. Now I ride a shadow 1100, and for about 10 minutes, I had it pinned, I am talking full throttle, and there was no more. But, I could only manage 54mph, thats how strong the head wind was, this bike should be able to top 100mph.

not long after we hit a little rain, I was envying the FF helmet guys, those sprinkles felt like daggers hitting my face.

overall it was a fun ride...........any day you can hang out with other bikers is a good day.

now the return trip home.............that was hairy

You got to ride with friends, and that means everything. I spend 14 hours riding in the rain one day. Now that sucked!
It was 30 degrees with ice and snow here today, glad you enjoyed the ride.

Dave
well guys, come visit california.............ya can ride my bike if you want

I'll wait till you get to MO and then I'll ride it. The bike, the bike. This PC stuff is cramping my style!
Sounds like good times, any time riiding with friends is a good time.

There were sections on the grade leading out of Palm Desert where I was pinned and barely picking up speed, BUT I was doing about 60 and didn't downshift to 4th.... had I gone to 4th, I'm sure 80 wouldn't have been a problem.

But you're right... we were probably bucking 40-50mph headwinds at some points, but it WAS much better than the ride out where we had the crosswind. The headwind sucked, but at least it didn't throw us around much except at underpasses.

That wasn't rain... it was hail.
I felt the first couple of hits and though "****, that was a BIG raindrop", then realized that my face wasn't wet enough for it to have been rain.
The next couple hit, then suddenly snaky dropped about 10mph, and a couple of little white balls got into a vortex between the shield and my face... it was very small hail.
Felt like rocks.
This is simply UNacceptable behavior

Two forum members take a ride to parts unknown, filled with tails of thrilling adventure and harrowing distress...

And not one PIC for our viewing pleasure !!!

:icon_frow
We both forgot our cameras, but there WERE plenty of cameras along... We'll get you some links soon.
I got a pic for em............me,snaky, and the two girls I proposed too
all it's done in the U.K. today is lash down with rain
Suppose to get 4-6 inches snow tonite so I think riding is done for a few days. Maybe we'll be lucky by the weekend.
Glad to hear that the ride went well. Fun times are hard to forget. We have rain in our area today, but it should clear up by tomorrow with gusty winds. Hopefully it will clear up soon for a nice ride to work on Monday.

Regards.
You guys were dressed like it was cold or something;) Nice pictures. I'm impressed, you had the popo stopping traffic for you. :)

He really didn't have a choice.

While we were staging, two Redlands PD stopped a guy in a Mercedes (maybe Lexus, not sure).
We started lining up at the driveway just as a tow truck arrived to tow the car. The tow couldn't get in because we were blocking half the driveway and half the lot.
The first three bikes left the driveway, and a Tundra whipped around the tow truck right behind me. After that, he stepped out to allow us to get out so his tow could get in.

It's been in the low 50s when we left home yesterday and today... probably 60-65 by the time we left the staging area.
Man, all I can say is that I am glad I am in AZ... :)
It is suppose to get into the mid to high 70's with a poss of hitting 80 this week!
I think I need to break out the warmer clothing! ;)
it twas chilly

Not to steal your thread but I was wondering if there is anyone in the Tucson area that is doing the Toy Run on December 5th?

This might be the first year I am actually able to attend since I have been riding.
