Unbelievable Deal on an EX500

Hey guys and gals. Let me briefly introduce myself before I post away. My name is Adam and I recently took the MSF course and was looking for a great bike to start off my motorcycling career. I was looking very closely at the EX250 and EX500 and visited this site and discussion board many times looking for good advice and information. Let me say that this is a great place and you folks have been a great help. Unfortunately I decided to purchase a different bike, but I was very impressed with you guys and wanted to let you know about a great deal I stumbled across. It was such a great deal I couldn't let it slip away without letting some other folks know about it so maybe someone could take advantage.

Here's the scoop. While I was looking for a used EX500 I called a bunch of dealers here in the Texas. One dealer told me that he was re-keying a brand new 2004 EX500 that had been repoed by a local bank. He said it was extremely low mileage and in great shape. He wasn't selling it but did give me the name and number of the lady at the bank who was trying to recoup some of the money her bank lost on the defaulted note. So I called her right up and inquired about the bike. She was very happy someone was showing some interest in the bike cause she's no motorcycle dealer. Of course she says the bank would like to recoup as much of the $5500 note as possible, but that I could place any bid I wanted on the bike. If no one else bid or bid higher than me she said the bank would consider my offer.

So I put in a bid of $3000. Well several weeks passed and she never got back to me. I decided to go with another bike and recently made a purchase. Well low and behold the women calls me today and says the bank would be more than happy to let me take the bike off their hands for three grand. Of course I couldn't do the deal, but it was such a good deal that I just couldn't go forward in life without letting someone else make a run on the thing if they were in the market.

Now I don't figure they will be holding on to the bike for much longer. Probably gonna ship it off to auction as soon as possible, but if YOU or ANYONE YOU KNOW would be interested in this deal I will be more than happy to pass along her information so you can contact her. Now I must admit, I haven't seen the bike in person (since it's not in my neck of the woods), nor do I know much about it (other than the fact it's practically new), but I'm sure anyone willing to make a trip to East Texas could take a closer look at it.

Hope this didn't come off like I'm some kind of used bike salesman, but I thought this would be a good place to share the info. Once again, feel free to contact me if you want to call the lady at the bank. Thanks again for all your wonderful info and help.

that is a great deal, I wish I could pick that up right now. Too bad I already owe money on my current bike.

college station eh? Lubbock here. Seems to be a lot of people from texas on this forum.
Gee, if were you I'd buy the bike and resell it for a profit. Must be somebody you know that can help you finance it for a month or two ?.

Family, friends, ????

Thanks for posting the offer.
Yeah I was real tempted to do that Uncle Bob, but I figured by the time I paid tax, title, and license and got insurance for it I might not really make that much. There's a guy on Ebay right now selling an 04 with approx. 500 miles for $3,400 Buy it Now. So when it was all said and done I figured I shouldn't buy it unless I was serious about having a committed relationship with the bike. lol. But it sure was tempting.

FreakinOut - it's good to see other folks from TX in here. I probably won't be venturing out of College Station on the bike anytime soon as I am just getting comfortable on my new ride. I think I'm supposed to despise Lubbock because of TTU but I was real close to getting into med school up there and really liked it.

Anyway, maybe somebody will take advantage of this deal before they take the bike to auction and some dealer gets it. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have friends interested. Take care.

bike

I got my 2000 500 for $2k even. No ttoo bad a deal though.
Hey...I'm in East Texas...wheres that bike at? I'm very interested. Thanx.
That sounds like a good deal - I got my bike in Nov '02 for £2300, and it's a W reg.

It will be 4 in April!
they are getting really cheap in the uk... I just bought mine, 3,150 miles and it cost £2,200... like new. Plus new ones in the UK go for £3299 down south. bargain!
Why, oh why couldn't I have just waited 3 more months to get a bike? A killer deal at 3K. Ah well, you know that hindsight is 20/20. Is the bike gone yet?
Fellow Texan

Hey,
I'm new to the forum and also from Texas but I'm a little further south in Houston. 3k is a pretty good deal and I really wanted to get the Ninja 500. However I just purchased a 1984 ZX900 for 50 bucks. Even though Ill have to spend a little time and money to fix it. I think I kind of found the ultimate deal there.

50 bucks? thats a heck of a deal, even if its not running. Hope ya get it running soon and back on the road.
Yeah I'm really hoping I can get it all cleaned up and ready to go in 2 months or less. But I got a couple other prjects around here that I needa get to also. Like my 1970 Honda SL 350 which is almost done ($800 if anyone is interested), a 125 Honda dirtbike I got for $75 in the same deal as my ZX900, and a race Kart that I just need a coil for (its a Komet K-78 engine if anyone out there happens to know anything about it, because I'm kinda lost on where to find one). But I am definitly most excited about my ZX900.
hey Monjoho would you sell that 125, wuts wrong with it i live on longisland
Sorry Chopperman. I want to fix up the 125 to teach my friends and brothers how to ride and to just mess around on. Besides I live in Houston thats probably farther than you would want to go to get an old broken dirtbike. However, if you are willing to go that far I do have a SL350 in decent condition. But it's defeintly quite a bit more to handle than that 125.
