Have been reading alot of info on here about noise from drive belt. I put a new rear tire on my 04 2000, adjusted belt to where it was before I took the tire off. went about 600 miles and developed a noise that sounds like its coming from trans. anyone have the specs on how tight the belt should be. I have read factory specs are way to tight. any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I'm using factory specs with a new belt. The orig started to chirp after about 20,000 kms. If you are hearing "transmission noise" only under hard acceleration, you may be skipping the cogs.

From the service manual:

"
Drive Belt Deflection (with 45 N, 4.5 kgf, 10 lb force)
Standard: 2.5 ~ 4.0 mm (0.10 ∼ 0.16 in.)
Drive Belt Deflection (with 45 N, 4.5 kgf, 10 lb force,
when installing new belt or engine remounted)
Standard: 2.5 mm (0.10 in.)
If the deflection is out of the specification, adjust it."
