I just installed a new rear brake arm (feels way better than stock). The problem is that during the install I managed to brake the wires to the brake light switch. No big deal I thought, a little soldering and walla. However now the brake light won't work when I use the rear (I can hear the switch clicking so I assume its workiing). The light does work with the front brake, so while I'm concerned about it at least I can still let that little old lady behind me watch the red light and wonder what it's about. Any ideas? Got dark out and decided to wait to do any futher work on it.

Any chance the brake light bulb itself is burned out? Beyond that, you'd have to confirm the switch is healthy then trace the wiring.

Don't see how it can be the bulb as it works with the front brake. Still kicking myself for not checking it before I started but.... Is this a normal switch or a polarized one, or something else? Is there a fuse for just the rear brake switch?

No fuse for rear brake only.. the switch is a ( normaly open ) switch.. which means the circuit is normaly open ( not connected ) until the switch is pulled.. then it is a closed circuit ( connected ).. which completes the circuit and makes the light come on..

Have U attempted to repair the switch.. how do U know the switch is mucked up.. make sure the switch is still plugged into the main harness.. trace the black coating (harness) from the switch to where it plugs in.. OR.. sometimes when one removes the switch from the parcel circle it sets in.. one tends to turn the switch to much.. thus breaking the soilder joints at the top of the switch ( underneath the black boot ).. or if U have an ohm meter.. U can unplug the switch and test for open and closed function..

I didn't know if the switch was mucked up, I did know that I busted the wires off it and did solder them back, knew I could here it clicking and that the batteries in my meter were kaput. So this morning got the meter going, disconnected at the harness connector and metered. Proved the switch was working. Replugged the connector and walla, all worked. As easy as that disconnected I'm assuming it was loose, especially since its a locking connector and all I did was pull just a bit on it to get it apart.
