I recently purchased a 2009 Vulcan 900 Custom Special Edition and want to put the new Cobra Speedster Swept Exhaust - Black on it.

Phat Performance Parts - Great Parts, Great Prices, Great Service, Great Website

This is my first bike and I have been told I may need to get a new computer chip or something and take somewhere to get tuned.

What all do I need to do besides following the directions when putting the new pipes on?

you dont need a 'chip' with only exhaust. Most say that you only need one if you change the intake and the exhaust. I have aftermarket exhaust and intake so I got a PCV.

I have not had it tuned yet but they have several maps available for download that seem to do the job.

I have to 900 SE with the swept pipes. New gaskets were the only thing I added with the pipes. When my pipes were debaffled, I had marbled the intake to stop the popping and I did not remove the marble when I changed out the pipes.

Nothing else was needed and she runs fine. Enjoy the new sound.
