My bike has about 1500 miles on it and I need to know how to adjust the drivebelt or at least check the tension. I like to do all of my own work and I never get sound advice from my dealer. By the way, I've been without a bike for 25 years and I now love this cruiser!
The best thing to do is look up the spec on belt tension then get a belt tension guage (most likely from an H-D dealer). Most of the time the belt tension is (spec(the amount of deflection)) at 10 lbs of force. I'm not too sure on adjustment because I havn't looked at the 2000 up close and I've only worked on H-D belts.
