Fuel gage on my KZ1000 works "OK" most of the time (although it does fluctutate a bit all the time). However, when I fill up the tank it goes absolutely bananas. Jumps around, hangs on E, acts like a barbarian on steroids. Any clues what might cause that or is it just the nature of the beast? Thanks.

Look under the tank for a small electrical conector, inside should be two pins, check for corrosion, if they look good, you may have to drain the tank,remove a cover and remove the sending unit inside the tank.On my bike,6 metric fasteners hold the sending unit to the bottom of the tank.A rubber gasket seals the unit to stop gas from leaking.

On my 82 GPz1100 B2, a floating sensor on an arm pivots increasing/decreasing voltage to a resistor that controls the fuel gauge.

Check the electrical connector first before tearing into the tank.

Thanks guys. I did check the connector and it is OK. Just seems strange how sporadic it is.
