I finally have my own bike.
Not a Kawasaki---
A 2007 Honda Shadow VLX.
My DH got it for me in Dec. An early Christmas present.
He has his 900(some day mine)
I will be taking the MSF course this spring.
After a bunch of parking lot practice I finally got to ride
on real roads!!! I have done over 300 miles so far.
Just lovin having my own. Got to change my
profile!!!!

It's a wonderful bike. Had mine for 3 years, put 30K on it. I miss it some days.

Have fun with it, and glad you got your own ride.

Congrats! I see you are in Hickory. I'm seeing more and more NC people on here. We all need to get together some time. NCDave is trying to organize a Dragon (Deal's Gap) trip. He said for 650s but I told him to stop being a bike snob plus he sometimes neglects to mention that he also has a cruiser.

What did you say? You are not banned from replying because you are a guy . . .
I just said cangrats and enjoy.

There was a thread awhile back about it and I distinctly remember a complaint so I'll just play it safe.

Now you've gotten me in trouble, Wendy.8)

Cool beans. My wife's first bike was a Shadow VLX. It was a great, great bike.
Look into replacing the front sprocket with one more suited to highway riding, and you can also get a hole saw and drill out the baffles in the exhaust to get a much deep er sound. (The Shadow guys call this "The Holey Order of the 1 3/4")

Check the Shadow riders forum on the Delphi Forums.......they have a ton of great useful information on the Shadow.

Congrats, again.

Really? I see guys replying in the ladies section all the time. It was my understanding that you can't make negative comments about girly things that we might say. If men are completely banned, then someone may miss out on some good advice. I've not seen a complaint but I don't read every thread. Seems like there should be a men's only section then. Ha ha.

Sorry greenize, didn't mean to hijack your thread a little there. Congrat's again. Girl Power! :)

Welcome to the nuthouse Sue! Hope you enjoy the bike!

Yes, I'll be making a dragon trip in September....3rd weekend of the month. And yes....cruisers are allowed, Wendy! :D

(I have to allow them....my son will be on the 650, so I gotta ride something!)

Sue, congrats on learning to ride! It's really the best! I am having a blast since I learned to ride and bought a bike.

We're friendly here, jump in anytime.

(Tina, your Shadow was gorgeous! The detailing is incredible!)

(fretbuzz—you're cool, no worries!)

Thanks, Liz. The tank was vinyl graphics, cost a whopping $18! But it was cool.

Wow! Congrats Greenize. :) Still amazes me when 1st time learners get on anything that big. With those baffles out, it feels even more intimidating to me. I still get scared when i ride my Virago. Seems she has a personality of her own and she she prefers my partner-in-crime back home.

A2rider, When i had my vinyl stickers peeled off.. my paintwork chose to go with my stickers. Imagine my shock! Oh well.. the 'goddess' needs a new paint job anyway. Still debating on the color and style. Also might want to change her wheels. She will have a makeover later in the year. :)

Have fun Greenize!! Hope u have proper riding gear. I'm constantly reminded that us wimmin don't look too good with road rash and busted knee caps or hobbling with a broken ankle.
