Grew up riding in the dirt. Loved my Hodaka 100 motocross bike. Two of my friends had them also. We were quite the site ripping around our track, you can't miss those chrome tanks. Incredible torque, like riding powerful chainsaws. When I became street legal in 78

I got a 71 Honda CB 350, a bike that seems very very popular now. We all wish we still had those bikes. After not riding all through decades of Fatherhood I'm back with an '80 KZ 750-G twin and loving it. Have been taking it nice and easy while it all comes back to me like it was only a couple years. I have NO interest in long fast boring highway rides as high speed has never been a high for me but I do find myself jack rabbiting around county roads like I'm still in the dirt and the hooker a prior owner put on makes it kind of sound like it too. I got the bike cheap and had a great local mechanic in Stockton,NJ rebuild the carbs, install new tires and go over the whole bike. This winter I would like to change the front fork oil and change or rebuild the starter which is my only real problem. No luck finding a replacement so far. Warm weather here has allowed a few more rides before it has to be garaged for winter.

Yes, the bike had saddle bags when I got it and they looked horrible. A friend gave me the magnetic tank bag which is quite handy even if it isn't good looking. I need it to hold a bottle of water, phone, wallet, etc

There was a time after I got injured, and hit rock bottom. A friend loaned me his Kawi 750 twin, for as long as I needed it. I really came to enjoy riding that bike, the torque, the ease of just cruising around. I finally returned it to him, and I've was left with much respect for that tank of a well built motorcycle. The torque that bike has always made me think it would pull a light Velorex sidecar with ease, and be the right bike for such a set up. :)
