Hi,

I got a kz550 (is from 1985, pretty old, but nice) and I really have no idea which oil to fill in. Can anyone please help?
Should be 15w/40, is there a difference between oil for cars and bikes?

OIL

ZAP...Most important is the oil filter...but use a 20-50 oil in the summer and a 10-40 in the winter...with that many miles on it you can run any synthetic that you want. Yes any synthetic, ther is no major difference in car/bike oils. Crude oil will actually burn off of cylinder walls if they get really hot where synthetic won't...there will be guys that will argue the point, but you have gas, compression and fire and it WILL burn some of the iol off of the walls...synthetic has higher temp flash points...so use a good oil and change your oilfilter at about 5,000 miles, maybe 2500 iles once or twice and your oil no more than 10,000 as you will be replacing oil when you replace the filter each time you remove it and top it off...some guys never get this...crude oil and synthetics are completely different..do some web research and you too will understand...it works for aviation...just give that some thought as you begin your research into synthetics...
