2001 ninja zx-7r here, i smoked a recent model porsche carrera type-S from a roll-on at 75 mph, by the time i hit 140 on a straightaway on highway 87 in arizona i was 6 or 7 car lengths in front. dork was definately driving auto though. Next night i raced a roll on with my friends 97 gixxer 750 (carbed also) anyway we rolled from 55+ on the 3rd honk and shifted to 4th at same time, then my ninja took the lead and had him a few bike lengths at 135 mph. Anyone think its the engine age? mine has 7,000 miles his has 27,000 miles. Lets hear about some races on this forum Ghad Damit

My friend (on his 2004 CBR600RR) wanted to see if he could keep up with my 2002 ZX-9R after he had the sprockets changed out. We started at a roll on at about 35 mph... Wasn't really a race he just wanted to see if he could stay with me. I don't think my front wheel touched the ground more than a few feet for over 1/8 of a mile. Was a pretty awsome feeling having the front end just hovering off the pavement. That was clear last year though, havn't gotten in much riding lately cause of snow and all and the riding I did do was solo.

2004 EX500, 2000 Ford Lightning, highly modified. 50 MPH roll-on, and I kept up to about 105, then at about 110 (me) the Lightning hit about 140 and slowed down. I know the guy though, and there was no traffic.

It means they raced from a roll. They match up at a specific speed and then punch it.

Carrera Type S? You mean Carrera S...there's no "type" in there. It also runs mid 12's and tops out at 179mph pretty easily...auto-stick or manual. You could have got him pretty easy off the line but, I'm sorry, you didn't beat him from a roll, especially if all you saw was 140. He was just warming up at 140...maybe he wasn't racing. I also find the gix hard to believe...little more hp and tq, 60lbs lighter...not in good tune or something.

Sorry...just too far-fetched for me...

Its a lot more even of a race if the bike and car start from a roll on. Most of the reason a bike can smoke a car is because of how much lighter it is and getting em off the start. I've seen a dodge viper (was tuned on) beat slightly moded Hyabusas from a roll on of about 60 mph.

This is interesting...doesn't like the idea that some internet name knows his li'l ninja can't beat a carrera from a roll...so he sends me (titled an appropriately mispelled "pu ceeeee" to note his wisdom here):

to make things straight..... a bike is faster then a car because of weight... BUT HP makes up for weight... car could have 400 hp and bike could have 100 and car would still get owned..... its not all about weight, or even hp.... it comes down to the driver... bottom line

I quit racing in a straight line. Any meathead can hamfist a throttle at 60 and beat some soccer mom in a Volvo. I know there has to be somewhere in AZ that has some decent twisties. Get yourself some leathers go ride some canyons and get rid of your mile wide chicken strips.

you know what they say when you assume, right. and even with all the straight roads here in arizona my tire is worn evenly and lacking any clean rubber, but im sure you have people lining up to shake your hand because youre too good to race straight lines. and there are a lot of soccer moms that i would ham fist

I should have taken care of this thread when it started.

Street racing is stupid. Go to the drag strip.

Same with racing through twisties. Go to the track.

I will not put up with threads about this kinda stuff. I don't care how deserted the road is/was, its still a public street. If you wanna do something stupid then get off the road and stop giving other motorcyclists bad names.

Thread closed.
