When I was deliberating on which bike to buy a couple of months ago, I teased my wife that she didn't need to worry about the passenger seat comfort if she would learn to ride and get her own bike. Well, she decided to give that some serious thought and signed up for the MSF course. I decided to take it with her as a refresher, and to keep an eye on her progress and skill level.
I was really amazed at how well she handled the motorcycle provided in the program. She had no problem at all passing the written test or riding course test, and genuinely enjoyed the experience. After each day of the riding class she wanted to go look at bikes.
After looking at and sitting on many bikes, she decided that the 900LT was what she liked the best. With her birthday approaching it was nearly a mandate that I get it for her. She is now the proud owner of a 2008 White/Metallic Titanium 900LT.
In order to have safe practice she has been riding it in a rural neighborhood just a couple miles from our house. The 900LT is larger than the MSF course bikes and she used several of the course techniques to become accustomed to the bike. We are still in the neighborhood working on sharp turns from stop signs, quick stops, etc. but I can tell she is becoming pretty comfortable with the bike and should be ready to move on soon.
I'll have to post more later as the progress continues. I am really looking forward to our first joint ride. I've ordered helmet-to-helmet intercom so we can talk as we travel.
Maybe I can get her to post some of her experience too.
Pulling way from right turn at stop sign.
