I have a 2002 Ninja 500. And i was wondering fi you guys could tell me what exactly to do for winterizing my bike. I would like to know everything to do and if i need to replace things or give it stuff like oils and stabilizers. Could you give me name brands. The shop would winterizing my bike for 150. But i think i can do it for a lot less.

I have a 250, and the only thing I did was give it an oil change, which isn't even nessecary, just saves me from having to do it next season before I ride. Then I put Stabil in the gas, start the bike, and shut the fuel off via petcock, and run it until it stalls. I take the battery out, and bring it in the house, so it doesn't go dead sitting in the cold garage, put the bike on the center stand and cover it up. I did that last year, and the bike fired right up for the next season. Everyone does different things, but thats how I do it.

I wash and wax my bike then I fill my tank completely full and add Seafoam (2.5 oz. per gal). I run the engine long enough to get the Seafoam in the carbs good then shut it off and turn the petcock off. I put it on the center stand then use a brace that keeps both tires suspended in the air. Then I clean and lube my chain. Attach my Battery Tender Jr. to the battery, cover the bike and wait for spring. At some point during the winter I usually get out and lube my cables but not always.
