Got a '91 Bayou 220. While in neutral, the neutral light won't come on to allow the electric starter to work unless you click the foot shift down about 20 times. The visible wires are in excellent shape. Before I dig into the case to look for a faulty switch, I'm just curious has anyone experienced this problem and what would you recommend me to do. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Yet another 220 starting problem. Can anyone help?

your on the right track. sounds like the neutral switch is bad or you have a bad ground/connection at the sensor.
maybe...
check the 20A fuse near the battery. also check that the earth wire that runs from the battery to the motor has a good contact.
