I bought a pair off of e-bay made by a company called eurodesigns or something similar. They have a tinted blue bulb and shine bright white and seem to give me more light than the stock bulb. But this is for my '04 250R, I'm assuming since your bike is an '83 it might have a sealed beam. If so, you can change it out for one that accepts a bulb similar to the one I bought which is an H4. Unfortunately I don't know the electrical system to say what would/would not work. But they do exist and work very well.
