I stopped by my FLKD (friendly local Kawasaki dealer) today to take a look at the new hot rod and they didn't have any. The salesman told me not until February and that it would be first come, first served and that they would only be getting a limited supply of them for the whole year. He also mentioned because of the limited supply, they would be asking (and presumably getting) MSRP for them. Anyone have any plans to pick one of these bad boys up?? The Suzuki dealer up the street has several '08 GSXR-1000's in his showroom. I can't imagine there being a wad of difference between the two, plus they're a few hundred dollars cheaper. Can anyone here convince me otherwise? :p I have less than zero interest in anything from Honda or Yamamaha so please no alternatives from them, thanks in advance.

I can't knock the Gixxers especially the 750's there an awesome all round bike, But if you go down that path and purchase a 1000 think of the embarrisment as the first ZX10R blows past you.....................

I've not known too many Kawie's to "blow" past any Gsxr's... Check out any drag race track. Most, if not all, use Suzie's...at least in the Pro stock class. However, I do like the ZX-10, expecially in that awesome Lime green.

Knowing dealers, I cannot imagine Kawasaki having a "limited supply" of any model, much less the hottest Super Sport bike on the market. I think if you wait until the new models arrive, there will be plenty of dealers willing to deal with you without you having to pay MSPR. I bought my 2007 ZX10R and got it for less than MSPR, no dealer setup charge or destination (freight) charge. It may have something to do with the fact that this was not the first bike I have purchased from this dealer but unless you ask, you will not know.

+1...Wait for the new 10R...After reading the one review from MO it might be worth it...Gixxer 1k is nice...I love the way they look and are my second choice if I had to do it again and even when I got my 10R it was my second choice...You want to know what kills it with the gixxer? Everyone has one and I honestly like the way the 10R looks better. As for the road, yeah gixxers have good reps, but that is the rider. The bike also plays a huge part but if you are no pro, then don't worry about it.

If you do get the gixxer, get the white one.

Finally, some constructive advice, Thanks. Actually, I was already leaning toward the 10R, I love the color, but also because of its reputation. Frankly, there aren't any tracks around where I live where I could put one through its paces. My 2nd bike was an '83 GS1100E and I loved it and miss it a lot. As much as I like the "gixxer", I still like the styling of the 10R better, so I guess I'll pony up the extra dough and get it instead. I'm still open to hearing from others that have legitimate, open-minded opinions...

I love my 10R...I just slapped some new Pirelli Corsa IIIs and love them...The best thing is I went to a 190/50 rear and it was better thant the higher profile 190/55 that come with the 06/07 bike...It has great throttle response, quick handling (change the tires), excellent shifting, comfy, and looks stellar...The only bad is the master cyclnder, but you can fix that with a brembo one and ss lines. A ZX-10R when surrounded by gixxers, yamas, and hondas looks like the king of the roost.
