1995 Kawasaki Bayou 400 4x4-Two years ago this problem started, the engine would not fire, but you could wiggle the wires in the back and it would start. Progressively has gotten worse starting until now there is no fire at the plug. Have checked all electrical compotents at the rear of the Atv by placing them on a similar ATV and they all work. The coil and cdi work. The wiring seems to be good as far as I can tell, and suggestions? I have looked at the schematics on the Kawasaki site, but they appear to jump around and have no logical flow so I can follow them from one area to the next. I have been looking for a used Kawasaki shop manual used, but no luck there. Does anyone have a used one for sale? Can anyone suggest what I should try next?

hello i have a question does the coil have a 12v supply when key is on you have two wires at the coil 1 will be hot when key is on and the other wire will be also but when you hit the start button one of them wires should pulse while turning it over if not you have a bad pulser and if you do not have a 12v supply at the coil then you have a break in the wire some where or a bad starter relay/cdi/ or ground id check to see if you have voltage at the coil first and go from there. start at the basics but the pulser is in the case of the motor fairly easy to change -corey-

I have read your email to my husband and that of another gentleman. Do not know if you both can read the reply so I am sending you this reply also. The engine will turn over, have checked all electrical components in the rear by exchanging my parts and placing them on another ATV we own. Have checked coil, and cdi, another part which due to senioritis I can not think of its name. Now I have NO spark at plug. Have checked all fuse contections and fuses and wiring harness attachments. Since I do not have a schemetic and not knowledgable enough to know where the coil wires come from without untaping the entire wiring system. There is no fire at the coil. Does the coil wire receive juice from the ignition switch or routed through some other source?

yep it is feed by the on off switch or kill switch on the left thumb but do you have power at the coil? use a test light to find out first, starter relay turns the juice loose but look at all you power and grounds at the battery real close and also is your battery in good shape and does your green nuteral light come on when key is on?but it sounds like maybe you have a broken wire at the rear of the bike you may have to open the harness up and inspect for damaged wire,s if i had a wireing diogram in front of me id be able to figure it better for you i have a 86 bayou 2x4 but check and see if you have power at the coil first then if not open the back half of the harness and find the wire that is broken you can use a seam ripper that is used for sewing to open the harness with out damaging any other wire like useing a razor blade.the seam ripper has a plastic ball at the tip so it will slide across the wires with out hurtin um and it cuts tape well good luck finding the broken wire,s i think youll find it at the back of your machine being u said you wiggled something back there and it would go probably the ground wire is broken -corey-
