Hello, I am new to this forum and looking for some answers about my moms mule. here is the problem, it starts just fine and will idle just fine. But when you get in it to gor for a ride, it will act like it is starving for fuel and die. Its very hard to start after this happens. I have pulled the fuel line, turned key on and no fuel. Fuel does come out when you turn the key to crank the motor. After I get fuel flowing, reconnect line, it will run for a while, then happens again. Trying to figure this out, just dont feel like spending 145.00 on a fuel pump and it not be the problem. Thanks and hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving.

The Mule is equipped with a safety switch, called the fuel cut relay, that turns the pump off if it senses the engine is not running. If that relay fails the pump will run in the key start mode, but not run in the key run mode.

The best way to test this is to use a jumper and connect the pump directly to the battery. If it runs, then the problem is the fuel cut relay. See the parts diagrams for the fuel pump on Kawasaki.com.

If the machine shuts off after running, and only quits pumping fuel after running for a while, then you may have a blocked vent in the fuel cap. Loosen the cap and see if the problem goes away. If that is the issue, replace the cap with a new one.

As always, it is a good idea to make sure the fuel filter is not plugged from old fuel. It is between the pump and the tank.
