I have a mule 610 which had an intermittent ingition problem. One of the symptoms was the mule would backfire occasionally. The intermittent ignition/backfire problem was fixed after installing a new wire harness. Now after about 40 hours of run time the mule occasionally backfires when starting. Has anyone had there 610 backfire when starting or what could cause this? I hope my original problem is not re-occuring.

I am new to this forum and am looking for some advise on our 610 Mule (47 hours) and a continues issue with fouling spark plugs. I have had to change the plug three times in less then 90 days, twice this month. Seems to be accelerated with the cold weather. Does anyone have any expeirience with this, is this normal? Any ideas would be great. Thanx!

not farmiliar with the mule 610 but if it is a single cylinder engine, you are simply getting too much fuel, the engine runs rich, fuel builds up in the motor and when it gets enough spark , bang theres your backfire. If you have to keep pulling the spark plugs because they are fouled that is also another common problem with running too rich or flooding your engine. Try adjusting the air fuel mixture a little bit leaner, and also clean your carb and maybe a hotter spark plug will help it fire all of that fuel.
