My bayou has been around the block a few times, but last fall on its last trip around the block i was heading up a hill, down shifted and the motor just spun like i was in neutral.
I can hear it shift and go out of neutral, but it won't go into gear. School is just about out, so I'll be tearing into it real soon and was Wondering what i should look for? Any Tips?

Zip over to kawasaki.com and take a look at the shift drum and fork diagrams, and the shift linkage diagrams. They are found under Owner Info and parts diagrams.

Normally this problem is the bolt works out of the shift drum and allows the device that looks a bit like a spider to miss the detents. It is usually an inexpensive fix, just takes a bit of time and care to get it apart and the worn/loose/broken parts identified and ordered, then back together.

I strongly recommend you pick up the service and repair manual and use it in conjunction with the Kawasaki parts diagram website to take care of the repair.
