Installing Driver Backrest and Saddlebags for Vulcan 1500

I just bought a new 2008 Vulcan 1500 from a dealer. I want to add the Adjustable Driver Backrest (item K53043-067) and LeatherLyke saddlebags. On Kawa website it states that when mounting the backrest to Vulcan 1500 Classic with saddlebags, supplemental hardware kit (item K53021-104) is required, but the installation instruction indicates this is just for Classics 1996-2002! Has anyone installed both the driver backrest and saddlebags that open from the inside to out on a 2005 or later Vulcan 1500 Classic? If so did you need the supplemental hardware kit? I would really appreciate any responses since it could save me time and a little money for unnecessary parts. Thanks for all responses.

I've got a Grasshopper backrest we had on our 1500, if you are interested I'll let it go cheap. We put a Mustang seat on the bike and don't need the backrest anymore. It's a decent backrest. The only thing I didn't like about it is it uses the single bolt that attaches the passenger pillion as it's attachment, so if you kick the backrest getting on or off it can cause it to misalign and then you have to grab it and straighten it out.
