Big Bad Green

This may not be any help & I just wanted to post a photo of a cool car, but instead of Kawasaki green, you might have better luck finding a car color that's a close match, such as an AMC Gremlin. Or 69 Javelin or AMX in Big Bad Green

Here's a link to a paint code cross-reference page where I got the photo. PaintRef.com

Well, take this as you will . . . take a look at the thread titled "1978 Kz 400 restoration" in this section of the forum. The paint on this restored bike is brand new. A local body shop here did it for me. I think it matches the Kawasaki green really well. If you're interested then reply back and I'll let you know their contact info.

Although yours is a Kaw color, it's not Kawasaki Green... nice restoration by the way.

I wonder if the Kaw dealer has it? You could check there or the Kawasaki Green or Team Green facebook pages. PJ1 discontinued the color.... too bad. Tamiya hobby paint comes in Spray Lacquer TS Kawasaki Lime Green.

Kinda pricey... ColorRite - Kawasaki 617 New Lime Green

Another AMX. Someone in the neighborhood has one in the blue w white stripes... in very good condition.

Martin,
You're correct. The green paint (original from 1978) on my Kz 400 is what the body shop matched up. I was not aware that "Kawasaki Green" was different. My mistake. Thanks for the comment on the restoration.

P.S. I have NO IDEA why the site is replacing the "eight" in the date above with a smiley face!!

That Kawasaki Lime Green was actually very likely the AMC Big Bad Green, since that was the color that inspired it back in the 70s. Steve Johnson suggested the color after seeing it on a Javelin (although he said AMC Pacer in a Moto Retro article, which had to be wrong since the Pacer wasn't built until 1975 per this article).

So if you can get a can of Big Bad Green, odds are it's going to be very close to what you want, since it was the original.

Big Bad Orange orangez zorangez

It's funny you should mention how the color came about. After posting the photo, I got to wondering if that's where Kawasaki got the idea. I guess they already borrowed LTD from Ford, and it seems to me that they got the CSR moniker from Matchless, so it wouldn't be a stretch for Kawasaki to appropriate Big Bad Green. Plus, it's a real neat name for a color. The AMC Big Bad Orange is another good one, I like it anyway, but their BBBlue kinda missed the mark... looks more like big baby blue. hee. PS: I wonder if Kawasaki got their orange idea from AMC as well?
