Hi all,

So I rebuild my '96 vulcan 800 into a bobber-style.
Tank has been replaced with a Harley sportster tank, intake is the stock housing and filter with the back inlet part taken off, and I made my own straightpipes out of the stock ones with db-killers inside.
It fires up and idles with no problem, but trying to drive is a whole other thing.
between about 1/8 trottle and 3/4 trottle it completely bogs down. You can get going woth a little gas, and pulling full trottle will make it go, but anything in between is nothing.
I pulled of the carb and cleaned it, but there was no dirt or gunk in it to begin with, all jets where clear.
Now I have been messing with the adjustment screw (it was out 5 turns when I took the carb apart) and set it around 2-1/2 for starters and then went to 3-1/2 now but I can't seem to get any improvement.

any suggestions???

Hi James, I hope you don't mind me asking this here instead of starting a whole new thread for such a small question.

I'm picking up a used Vulcan 900 soon and I already know I want to change the pipes out to some straight pipes just for better sound. Not really looking for more speed or torque. So my question is; Will I also need to do anything to the carborator or air intake system to keep it running smoothly? I'm assuming I will at least need some more air intake with something like K&M filters, so any and all input here would be appreciated.
