Hey guys I'm new to the forum here. My uncle was cleaning out his garage on this nice memorial weekend, and came across his 82' 550 ltd sitting under a sheet. He asked if I wanted it and I said sure of course, it does only have 7,000 miles on it with no rust, no scratches, and the motor runs perfect. This is my first bike (24 yrs old) but i thought it would be fun to break it down and turn it in to a nice little cafe style. I know I'm going to be on here a lot asking questions so I hope you guys don't mind the small/dumb questions.

My first question however is how do you get the headlight off....?? I've stripped her down but am now stuck on the headlight of all things!

Honestly, it's probably not what you wanna hear, but I agree with LTD! This is such a great classic bike, it would be a crime....yep, I have a tendency to be dramatic!
I would also keep her as his & look for something else to cafe....sorry, not much help here. And welcome to the forum! )

I understand where everyone is coming from, however I always strive to be different and unique with a project and I feel like you can have a lot of fun with these older style bikes. The parts are cheap, the maintenance is reasonable for a beginner and hey, I didn't pay anything for the bike so why not go crazy. Its going to be a fun project and I hope everyone stays tuned because the finish project will be well worth it!! I do realize though this probably isn't the best forum to ask/discuss cafe stuff but in terms of any other kawasaki questions I will keep them coming. To the older vets that love the condition of my bike, IM SORRY!!

Even though I love the old vintage bikes, that cafe style looks great. It still keeps most of the old styling but in the same time enhances it with the cafe modification. I do have a question for you, if you are going through with this, I would love to have the opportunity to buy you sissy bar and trunk bag with the bar. I just can't find an original sissy bar for my 1980 KZ750-H1. Feel free to contact me.
