Hey Folks, I just got registered on the forum. I am using the forum to research the Vulcan 2000 Classic LT. I have an agreed upon deal with my local Kawasaki dealer. I have not ridden in 12 years and was a bit concerned about the size of the Vulcan 2000 Classic LT. It is a beast which is part of the appeal. My dealer let me ride it around the parking lot. I found it very easy to handle. A couple of issues have come up. #1 The back wheel bearing had a history which I understand Kawasaki remedied by re-engineering it. #2 One owner complained the fuel tank cap leaked. I would think that would be an easy fix. #3 Some of the Vulcans have loud engine noises. A forum poster said it was caused by the chain driven cams. The 2000 Classic LT's cams are driven by a pushrod. Does anyone know of any other issues? I am very close on this purchase and getting excited. I am ready to ride. Thanks :)

1) The rear bearing was changed out after '04, so no problem there
2) Mine leaked fuel from the filler cap because somehow the rubber gaskets got torn. Local dealer took care of it in 10 minutes.
3) My '07 sounds fine, no problems with the bike at all.

I have an '06 Vulcan 2000 Classic with 5K miles on it now and I have never had any problems - no fuel leakage nor any unusual engine noises at all. In fact the engine on my 2000 is much quieter than my last bike which was an '03 Vulcan 1600 Classic.

Mine started life as a 2006 Classic LT. I have no problems with engine noise, no gas leaks, but pressure vents from the tank and that is normal, and as indicated by Anamosity, the bearing issue was solved a few years ago.

They are a nice ride, comfy and powerful. I like mine!

Welcome to forum. There are a lot of really good people here who are always willing to help. As you can see from some of the posters above they love their v2k's. I have the 900LT which is my first bike (62 yrs) and I love it but I am afraid to try the v2k because everyone that does ends up having to have one.
So all I can say is buy the bike and post some pictures.

Thanks everyone for the great information.

Hey Lobocop, That is a beautiful bike. Tell me about the windshield. It is very cool.

Trikebubble, Your bike looks great. My wife loves the paint job.

My entire family loved the pipe sound videos and audios. Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with the after-market pipes. The HKs are after-market, Right? They sound great. I'll be looking at pipes later.

Thanks again and keep the information coming. I'll let you all know what I buy.

Thanks.

The fairing, trunk, saddlebags and seat are all from Corbin. Nice quality products, but they are spendy.

rmloan, I bought a 2006 2000 classic LT back in Fenuary, and like you I also had a good amount of time between bikse, wife, kid, will do that.

Getting back into, I did set some standards for buying. Lised below in no particular order

1. First time in my life I could say, price is no issue, If it costed 25k, I would buy it. Price would not stop me from buying it.

2. Had to be the biggest bike the manufacture made, I am a guy

3. The bike had to feel like a cruiser, had to shake some

4. Big,Big,Big

5. I would keep it stock if I want and be content

6. Look **** good

7. Good dealer that would treat me right

8. Wife approval of course

I looked at them all, Yamaha, Suzuki, Hodna, HD. It came down to the Road King, Yamaha Stratliner, and V2k.

The Statoliner was a close second, but a liitle to refined, wen it was running, nothing shook. I still got some old school in my

The 1st V2K I ever seen now sits in my garage and I couldn't be happier. Awasome power, outragios. Comfortable, and when riding, even low speeds, it doesn't fell like 800lbs. It does when you back it up, but hey, I wanted big.
I am a big guy, 275lb, 6", bike don't care, put my wife on it all 125lb of her, don't even know shes there. Everytime I ride it I don't want to get off.
I have been reading post here for 3 months now, and everyone else pretty much says the same.

My bike is everything I wanted, and themsome. I think it looks pretty good, even stock.

Hey mybigica,
Good Stuff, Thanks. I'm with you on your purchase criteria. Price was not an issue. When I started my bike search, I was thinking which Harley will I get. After multiple trips to the HD dealerships in my area, I gave up on the Harleys. They have improved but are not close to the Japanese bikes. I saw the 2000 Classic LT on the Kawasaki website. It looked great on the internet so I decided to check it out. When I saw it, I was stunned. Big was not on my criteria list. After seeing the 2000 in person, bigger is better. My skinny butt (6 feet and 175 lbs) struggles to move this beast on an incline but no problem on the test ride. When my wife saw it, she dubbed it "The Beast."

rmloan, mi wife dubbed mine my 800lb girlfriend. And yes, it is a beast.

I like Harley's. But none of the 4 HD dealerships I visited seemed to give a sh@t about me. They put there stuff on such a high platform, I just don't get them.

I like Harley's alot, and have nothing against there bikes. There dealerships made me look elsewere, and glad I did.

Like I said, the first one I actaully saw I bought, the bike felt right. You notice, or more like worry about the weight the first couple of times out. But then you relise it u turns, fugures 8, without any issues.

Let me tell you, they let you take it out of the parking lot, it will be over. You'll be hooked, and be refered to as aa V2K Junkie like the rest of us.

Good Luck, Tennessee, be in Memphis in two weeks. Get there about every three months.

mbigica I agree with your HD comments. Nice bikes but the dealers were pretty arrogant. If you want we can do lunch, dinner, or just coffee when you are in Memphis. My email address is rickloan@comcast.net. FedEx keeps me on the road a lot. Hopefully. I'll be in town.

Welcome to the forum.
I own a 2006 V2K.
8000 Km. Zero problems
I only started riding 3 years ago ( I am 44 ) and, despite its size, the bike doesn´t feel big. It actually feels quite smooth.
Sorry I don´t have pics.
Vance & Hines Powershots are perhaps the most popular aftermarket pipes. I only got them installed last week and they are fantastic.

Hey, I just put a deposit on one identical to 2wheelfun's. As soon as an electronic fund transfer goes through, I'll be bringing that baby home.

Anamosity, That's a nice bike.

Bigbada1, The salesman told me there was a "problem" that Kawasaki fixed by re-engineering the wheel bearing. It now has two wheelbearings.

Hi,
I've had my LT for a couple months now. I do find myself being more selective where I park (hills etc..) but once you are going the bike is wonderfull to ride. I love cruising around the city and hearing the stock exhaust rumble. You will not be dissapointed by this bike!
